From the Manga Fruit Basket, is Ayame Sohma a girl or a boy?

He has long hair and acts like a girl (sort of) and says he%26#039;s in love with Hatori...I think. And he sleeps with guys? Wait no, he transforms then sleeps with guys right? So is he a boy or girl! This is so confusing!!

Ayame is a guy. He also happens to be Yuki%26#039;s older brother. If you read the manga, you%26#039;ll discover that Hatori, Shigure, and Ayame have been close friends since ... well, forever. Ayame is a designer and owns a costume shop. He designs things %26quot;that make his customers%26#039; fantasies come to life%26quot; as he would put it. He also like to wear clothes that make people think he%26#039;s royalty or something. I wouldn%26#039;t exactly say that he %26quot;sleeps with guys%26quot; like he%26#039;s gay or something. It just that when he transforms, he transforms into a snake and since snake are cold-blooded he trys to find a warm body whether it%26#039;s male or female. He says he loves Hatori because well ... he%26#039;s Ayame. He and Shigure have this little %26quot;act%26quot; that they like to do that suggest that Ayame, Shigure, and Hatori were lovers, but I doubt that. They%26#039;re just really close. For Ayame to say that he loves someone means that he really cares a lot about them. Also if you%26#039;re refering to the time when Kyo or Yuki woke up and found Ayame in bed with them that was to piss Kyo off and to show Yuki how much his big brother loves him. Ayame tends to over do it when it comes to showing love or affection especially towards Yuki because in the past when Yuki needed him the most, Ayame rejected him and acted like he didn%26#039;t exist. It was a very sad and painful experience for Yuki and Ayame has come around now and feels guilty about what he did. Okay ... kind of long but I hope it helps. Reply:Definitely a boy! He%26#039;s just very eccentric. He%26#039;s snake so during the winter time he needs a warmth. The way to get it is to latch himself on a human body. This is how he first met Tohru. After his body is warm, then he%26#039;ll transfer back. But then he spent a couple nights at Shigure%26#039;s. Second night he%26#039;s at Kyo%26#039;s and freaked him out. This is because Yuki locked his door for sure knowing Ayame will try to pull the trick on him. In the manga it was revealed that Ayame is in love with Mine Kuramae (The girl that works in his shop who like to play dress up). Hope this helps! ^_^





BTW: Akito%26#039;s the real cross-dresser. Akito%26#039;s a girl but dressed as a boy since according to Ren Sohma (Akito%26#039;s mom), the head of the family is better being a male than female. Ritsu the monkey also cross-dressed at first but then he finally end up with Mii-chan (Shigure%26#039;s editor)

he doesn%26#039;t love Hatori in that way, he admires Hatori very much, Hatori is one of his best friends [like Shigure] been friends since they were little.


The only possible love he has for Hatori and Shigure is friendship and the fact that they are relatives.


When he transforms into the snake he requires body heat to stay warm for fear of his helth, snakes are cold blooded thats why.

Also Ayame is in love with a girl [see the end of fruits basket for more info] the only reason why he hasn%26#039;t told anyone is the fact that he transforms if he tries to hold her, (they work together)

Reply:ayame is a boy. i think it was the first time that he had come over to shigures house after tohru started living there and he didn%26#039;t have anywhere to sleep.so the next morning kyo wakes up in bed with ayame who is hugging him.
